To improve my resume using AI, I tried out several specific prompts to help it rewrite my original version with a more professional tone. I experimented with different instructions like asking it to “make this resume sound more professional,” “adjust this for a marketing role,” and “create a version focused on safety and risk management.” I also played around with telling it which strengths to highlight and what tone to use. Changing the prompts even slightly made the AI shift how it framed my experiences, which helped me understand how much control you can have over the results.

When I compared my original resume with the AI-generated versions, the biggest differences showed up in how my experience was positioned. The marketing version focused more on communication and customer experience, while the safety version highlighted things like risk awareness and emergency response. Going through this process taught me that prompt engineering is really about being clear and specific. The more precise the instruction, the more tailored and accurate the output becomes. It also showed me how important it is to adjust tone, language, and emphasis depending on the audience you’re trying to reach.
